Cherries

Summer is here and so are our cherries! Incredibly sweet and juicy with a delightfully crisp bite, cherries are chock-full of potassium, vitamin C, and antioxidants. There are two main types of cherries that are produced in the United States: sweet and tart “sour” cherries. Most sweet cherries, such as the heart-shaped Bing, the bright-red Lambert, and the gold-toned Rainier, are grown in California, Washington, and Oregon. Learn more tasty tidbits about this popular stone fruit in our article.

NOW HAPPENING IN THE ORCHARDS

We’ve moved past bloom, and based on early indicators, the busy bees did a dandy job of pollinating. Our orchardists are thinning the peach trees to encourage larger fruit at harvest. They are also busy with our irrigation system and fertilizing, ensuring that the trees get just the right amount of water and nutrients.
