Click HereSummer is here and so are our cherries! Incredibly sweet and juicy with a delightfully crisp bite, cherries are chock-full of potassium, vitamin C, and antioxidants. There are two main types of cherries that are produced in the United States: sweet and tart “sour” cherries. Most sweet cherries, such as the heart-shaped Bing, the bright-red Lambert, and the gold-toned Rainier, are grown in California, Washington, and Oregon. article.We’ve moved past bloom, and based on early indicators, the busy bees did a dandy job of pollinating. Our orchardists are thinning the peach trees to encourage larger fruit at harvest. They are also busy with our irrigation system and fertilizing, ensuring that the trees get just the right amount of water and nutrients.
In June and July, we will be shipping cherries grown in Washington, DulceVida® nectarines and peaches grown in California, and mangoes grown in Mexico. June is also National Mango Month! Find more fun facts about this fabulous fruit in our handy
.Due to harvest conditions in Washington, some of our planned July cherry shipments will arrive the last week of June.
We are currently shipping Comice pears grown in Chile, Taylor’s Gold pears grown in New Zealand, and Bartlett pears grown in Chile and Argentina.
We are currently shipping Cosmic Crisp apples grown in Washington and Ambrosia apples grown in Michigan.
Our featured vegetable for June is asparagus grown by The Chef’s Garden. We are proud to work with The Chef’s Garden to offer a selection of sustainably grown, restaurant-quality gourmet vegetables, including petite greens with edible flowers and boxes of mixed vegetables. We will also ship white asparagus grown in Peru, avocados grown in Mexico, and shiitake mushrooms grown in California.
